Tutorial: Design Presentation

Turn a canvas into a presentation-ready board with sections, rationale, and alternatives.

What you'll build​

  • A structured canvas with sections (Overview, Option A, Option B)
  • Clear rationale notes and highlights
  • Grouped sections for quick navigation

Prerequisites​

  • Canvas quickstart (/canvas/quickstart)
  • Prepared images of your design options

Part 1: Outline sections​

  1. Add Text headings for key sections: Overview, Option A, Option B, Next Steps.
  2. Leave generous spacing between sections for visual breathing room.

✅ Checkpoint​

You have a clear outline on the canvas.

Part 2: Place options and context​

  1. Under Overview, add 2–3 hero visuals and a short problem statement (Text).
  2. Under Option A and Option B, place the corresponding visuals in consistent grids.
  3. Add short labels indicating key differences.

Part 3: Add rationale and highlights​

  1. Add a Text node near each option with 2–3 bullet points explaining tradeoffs.
  2. Use bold sparingly for emphasis.

Part 4: Group sections​

  1. Select all elements of a section and Group them.
  2. Reflow spacing by moving sections as units.

✅ Checkpoint​

Sections are grouped and easy to move.

Presenting​

  • Present live via screen share and zoom the canvas as you talk through sections.
  • Capture screenshots of sections if you need static decks.
