Script Breakdown
Let Mito Director analyze your script and automatically create storyboard scenes.
How it works
Director reads your script, identifies key moments and transitions, and creates a scene-by-scene breakdown ready for video generation.
Breaking down a script
Step 1: Prepare your script
Add your script to the canvas as a text asset:
- Paste text directly onto the canvas
- Upload a text file
- Type or import your narrative
Step 2: Go to Storyboard
Switch to Storyboard mode using the mode selector.
Step 3: Use Director
In the storyboard empty state, you'll see the Mito Director option:
- Drag your script asset onto the Director area
- Or select it from the available scripts shown
Step 4: Wait for analysis
Director processes your script with animated status messages:
- "Breaking down your script into scenes..."
- "Identifying key moments..."
- "Creating shot breakdowns..."
Step 5: Review scenes
Once complete, your storyboard populates with scenes:
- Each scene has a narrative description
- Durations are suggested based on the content
- Scenes are ready for video generation
What Director extracts
From your script, Director identifies:
| Element | How it's used |
|---|---|
| Scene transitions | Creates separate scenes |
| Action descriptions | Becomes scene narratives |
| Key moments | Informs shot duration |
| Visual details | Guides scene descriptions |
Editing generated scenes
After Director creates scenes, you can:
- Edit narratives to refine descriptions
- Adjust durations to match your vision
- Reorder scenes in the timeline
- Add visual descriptions
- Delete or duplicate scenes
The generated breakdown is a starting point—customize it to match your creative direction.
Tips for better breakdowns
Structure your script
Clear scene transitions and action descriptions help Director create better breakdowns.
Include visual details
The more visual information in your script, the better Director can describe each scene.
Review and refine
Director gives you a strong starting point. Review each scene and add details that capture your specific vision.
Troubleshooting
Script not recognized
Make sure your script is a text asset on the canvas. Director needs text content to analyze.
Scenes seem incomplete
Add more detail to your script's scene descriptions, or manually edit the generated scenes.
Too many or too few scenes
Director interprets scene boundaries from your script structure. You can merge scenes by editing or split them by duplicating and adjusting.
